Some of the states shown in green have formal reciprocity agreements with Utah while others will honor the Utah permit without a reciprocity agreement.

*Reciprocity and other acceptance of a given state's CCW permit is subject to change over time. You may be able to carry in your home state using only an out-of-state CCW permit. Check state laws and confirm acceptance before carrying in your home or other state.

If you are a resident of Utah, your Utah CCW Permit is also good in Florida, Michigan and New Hamshire. *See important note at the bottom of this page regarding accuracy of this information!

Important things to know about the Utah CCW Permit ...

1. Names of Utah CCW permit holders are confidential - not public information as in the case of Florida CCW permits
2. Names of Utah CCW permit holders are not placed into criminal information databases as in the case of some Colorado counties
3. A background check is required on all applications - see information below.

Utah CCW Permit Application Requirements - Please read carefully

*Minimum requirements for application for a concealed firearms permit in Utah are:

Applicant must be at least 21 years of age
Proof of good character...whereas the applicant;

1. has not been convicted of a felony;
2. has not been convicted of any crime of violence;
3. has not been convicted of any offense involving the use of alcohol; (If it was more than 5 years ago, you may qualify for the permit.)
4. has not been convicted of any offenses involving the unlawful use of narcotics or other controlled substances; (If it was a misdemeanor more than 10 years ago, you may still qualify for the permit.)
5. has not been convicted of any offenses involving moral turpitude;
   has not been convicted of any offense involving domestic violence;
6. has not been adjudicated by a court of a state or of the United States as mentally incompetent, unless the adjudication has been withdrawn or reversed.

*It is also a great solution for residents of states like Nebraska, Kansas, Hawaii and Illinois where they can't get a concealed carry permit. Although the non-resident Utah CCW Permit is not valid in these 4 states where the right to carry is denied, it sure works great when residents of those states travel to one or more of the 25 states where it is accepted!

If a student has NO handgun shooting experience, they can still take the NACFI Handgun Safety CCW Course for the Utah CCW Permit but a Live-Fire Module range session may be required following their handling demonstration with one of our instructors. The range session will be scheduled in conjunction with one of the other basic pistol classes and a range fee (usually about $26) will apply. The student will need to bring their own handgun and ammunition or use one of our handguns for an additional $20 usage fee. Ammunition can be purchsed for $20.
